The Citola Widget's Quick Calculator enables you to select how many tonnes of CO2 you would like to offset, the amount of money you have to invest into Carbon offsets, or an 'offset' package equating to a particular activity, event or action.
Car Carbon Calculator
The Citola Widget's Car Carbon Calculator enables you to offset your car travel's impact on the environment and uses dynamic information from the UK Vehicle Certification Agency database of vehicle emissions for each car make and model. If your model is not listed, or you would like to input manual fields, use our Car Data Calculator based on Fuel Type and Fuel Efficiency. To find out your vehicle fuel economy consult the log book or the manufacturer or use the following assumptions:
Commute Carbon Calculator
Petrol
• A typical small car may have a fuel economy of 36 mpg (7.8 l/100km)
• A typical medium car may have a fuel economy of 30 mpg (9.4 l/100km)
• A typical large car may have a fuel economy of 22 mpg (12.8 l/100km)
Diesel
• A typical small diesel car may have a fuel economy of 47mpg (6 l/100km)
• A typical large diesel car may have a fuel economy of 39 mpg (7.2 l/100km)
The Citola Widget's Commute Carbon Calculator utilises the emissions profile of the specific transport mode you utilise, and allows you to offset these emissions.
Flight Carbon Calculator
The Citola Widget's Flight Calculator follows the best international practices and takes into account the variance in emissions for short, medium and long-haul flights (such as proportion of fuel used for takeoff, travel and landing), the curvature of the earth, radiative forcing and emissions activities. The Citola Widget's Flight Carbon Calculator allows you to offset any flight.
House Carbon Calculator
Radiative Forcing takes into account the contribution that other greenhouse gases (including NOx compounds, ozone, methane) have on climate change when emitted from the aircraft at high altitude directly into the atmosphere. The radiative forcing index, internationally agreed to be approximately 1.9, translates to an aircraft having almost double the harmful effect on the environment when traveling at high altitude compared to emitting the same amount of CO2 on the ground.
The Citola Widget's House Carbon Calculator enables you to offset your household's carbon footprint using the ‘Energy Bill’ method by manually selecting your energy consumption information or the ‘House Type’ calculator which is based on first-world averages.
